Discussion of Luther College's Admissions Standards: About a third of all applicants to Luther College will not get in, and successful applicants tend to have grades and standardized test scores that are at least a little above average. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who were admitted. Most had SAT scores (RW+M) of 1000 or higher, an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. Many strong students are drawn to Luther, and you can see that a significant percentage of those who were accepted have grades up in the "A" range. Luther College has holistic admissions, so your grades and test scores are only part of the equation. Whether you use the Luther application or the Common Application, the admissions folks will be looking for a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and a positive letter of recommendation.
