Discussion of Manhattan College's Admissions Standards:

Manhattan College has selective admissions, and roughly one out of every three applicants will receive a rejection letter. Students who get in tend to have strong grades and standardized test scores that are average or better. In the scattergram above, the blue and green data points represent students who were admitted. As you can see, most had combined SAT scores (RW+M) of 1000 or higher, an ACT composite score of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. A significant percentage of accepted students had grades up in the "A" range.

That said, grades and standardized test scores do not tell the whole admissions story for Manhattan College. You'll notice that some students who seemed to be on target for admission did not get in, while other students with sub-par grades and/or test scores were admitted. This is because eligibility for admission is not a simple mathematical equation. Manhattan College has holistic admissions and makes an effort to evaluate the whole student, not just numerical data. Whether you use the Common Application or Manhattan College's own application, the admissions folks will be looking for a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation. Honors, awards, sports, and work experiences are all taken into consideration. And like all selective colleges, Manhattan College will look at the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Finally, Manhattan College has rolling admissions and a priority application deadline of March 1st. The simple act of applying early can improve your chances of getting in.
