The Manulife LPGA Classic joined the LPGA Tour schedule in 2012, becoming the tour's second stop in Canada (in addition to the Canadian Women's Open). The tournament is played in Waterloo, Ontario, west of Toronto.

Title sponsor Manulife is an insurance and financial services company based in Toronto.

The Manulife Classic is a full-field, 72-hole event that in its early history has been played in June or July.

2017 Tournament
Ariya Jutanugarn took the 2017 title in a 3-way playoff against In Gee Chun and Lexi Thompson. All three finished at 17-under 271, Jutanugarn after shooting a 69 - the best score among the three - in the final round. On the first playoff hole, Chun and Thompson parred, allowing Jutanugarn to win it with a birdie. It was the first win of 2017 for the 21-year-old Jutanugarn, the sixth of her LPGA career.

2016 Manulife LPGA Classic
Caroline Masson shot 67 in the final round, posted 16-under, then waited to see if anyone could catch her. Lydia Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn, Minjee Lee and Mi Hyang Lee were among those with opportunities, but none cashed them in. Masson claimed her first career win on the LPGA by one shot over runners-up Karine Icher plus Minjee Lee and Mi Hyang Lee.

2015 Manulife LPGA Classic
Suzann Pettersen won this event in Year 4 of its young life, recording her 15th career win on the LPGA Tour.

Pettersen's margin over runner-up Brittany Lang (the 2012 winner) was one shot, which Pettersen earned with birdies on the 70th and 71st holes.

Manulife LPGA Classic Trivia and Notes

    • The winner of the first Manulife Classic was a first-time winner on the LPGA. Brittany Lang defeated three others in a playoff to claim her first career LPGA win here in 2012.
    • The second Manulife Classic also went to a playoff, and Hee Young Park won it - her second LPGA win. So the first tourney winner was winning for the first time, and the second tourney winner was winning for the second time.
    • In 2013, Park and Angela Stanford both tied the LPGA Tour record for 72-hole score (258). And their score in relation to par - 26-under - was second-best in tour history.
