Margaret Schlachter is a former writer for ThoughtCo who wrote about obstacle racing and extreme sports for a little under two years. Schlachter has been competing in Obstacle Racing since the sport became popular around 2010. Since then, she has participated in everything from local 5K mud runs to the sport's premier events including World's Toughest Mudder, Spartan Death Race, and Survival Run in Nicaragua.
Schlachter's racing has taken her all over the globe, and she continues to seek out the next adventure. She also authored the book "Obstacle Race Training: How to Beat Any Course, Compete Like a Champion, and Change Your Life."
Schlachter came from an alpine ski racing background, and she coached elite athletes including women's lacrosse teams (in the off-season) for over 10 years. In 2012, she trained weight loss sensation Chris Davis, helping him lose over 400 pounds in preparation for the Vermont Spartan Beast. She continues to grow as a coach and is a lifelong learner and currently is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and former Spartan SGX Coach.
