A decade later, in 2005, her single "We Belong Together" remained at number one with 14 weeks. It is tied for second place with seven other songs which also held number one for 14 weeks, including "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston from The Bodyguard soundtrack, and "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas featuring will.i.am and Fergie.

In 2010, Billboard magazine named Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" from The Emancipation of Mimi CD the "Song of the Decade" and the ninth most popular song of all-time. In 2005, it became her 16th number one single and remained at the top of the chart for 14 consecutive weeks. It is the second longest running number one song in chart history behind her 1995 "One Sweet Day" collaboration with Boyz II Men which was number one for a record 16 weeks. In 2006, "We Belong Together" won Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
