Discussion of Marquette's Admissions Standards:

Marquette University is a selective private Catholic university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Just over half of all applicants will get in, and students who are admitted tend to have grades and test scores that are above average. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. The majority of successful applicants had high school averages of "B+" or better, combined SAT scores of 1050 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 21 or better. You'll have a much better chance of getting an acceptance letter with test scores above these lower numbers, and a significant number of admitted students had "A" averages.

You'll see that there are some red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. Quite a few students with grades and test scores that were potentially on target for Marquette did not get in. Note, however, that a some students were accepted with test scores and grades a bit below the norm. This is because Marquette's admissions process is about much more than numbers. The university accepts the Common Application and has holistic admissions. The university's admissions officers will be looking at the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Also, the they will want to see a strong essay, interesting extracurricular activities, an engaging short answer, and glowing letters of recommendation (note that the Counselor Recommendation is required and other recommendation letters are optional).
