Matt Weaver has covered NASCAR since 2011 and has grown up in the sport, having raced at several levels himself before starting a reporting career at the Short Track Late Model level. He previously worked in stick and ball sports, working the 2007 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and the Senior Bowl from 2008-2012.
Weaver is the editor of Popular Speed, a motorsports news and analysis site founded by championship winning NASCAR spotter Mike Calinoff. He was previously the co-editor of SB Nation Motorsports and has contributed to numerous print publications including the Mobile Press Register and Dawson Advertiser. He has appeared on Sirius Satellite Radio, NBC Sports Radio and various local racing programs in the Deep South. He is also the founder and editor of IndyCar website Open Wheel Now.
The 26-year-old NASCAR Expert is a graduate of the University of South Alabama (2013) with a bachelor's degree in communications and print journalism. From a less legitimate perspective, Weaver 'graduated' from a life-time on the short track ranks, gaining an 'education' at such notable tracks like Pensacola Five Flags Speedway, Mobile International Speedway and Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
