Matthew E. Berger is a former writer for ThoughtCo. He covered homeland security for Congressional Quarterly and the 2004 presidential election for JTA. He is work can be found in  numerous newspapers, websites, and magazines, including Politico, Washington Post magazine, and The Forward. He was a presidential campaign reporter for NBC News and the National Journal in 2008. Currently, he is a vice president of communications at Hillel International, the foundation for Jewish Campus Life.

He holds a master's degree in national security policy and a bachelor's degree in political communication from George Washington University.
