Discussion of McDaniel College's Admissions Standards:

About a quarter of all applicants to McDaniel College will not receive an acceptance letter. Successful applicants will need solid grades and standardized test scores. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who were accepted. Most had SAT scores of 1000 or higher (RW+M), an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. Having grades and test scores above these lower ranges will improve your chances of getting in.

Keep in mind that grades and test scores are just one piece of the admissions equation for McDaniel. The college prides itself on getting to know its applicants as people, and the admissions process is holistic. The admissions folks will be impressed if you've succeeded in challenging high school courses, so those Advanced Placement, Honors, IB, and Dual Enrollment courses can all play an important role in the McDaniel admissions process. Also, whether you use the Common Application or McDaniel application, the admissions staff will want to see a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation. McDaniel also highly encourages applicants to visit campus, and doing so is one way to demonstrate your interest.
