It became a liberal arts college in the 1960s, and became a full university in 1998. The school offers more than 40 undergraduate majors, and over 20 graduate programs. Popular areas of study include Psychology, Education, Nursing, and Music. Outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to join clubs and activities on campus; NJCU has an active Greek community, as well as a number of academic, social, and recreational groups.
