Maybe that's why so many of Sparks' books seem to attract Hollywood's attention. Here are all Nicholas Sparks movie adaptions in the order they were released. "Message in a Bottle" Amazon The movie version of "Message in a Bottle," starring Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn, was released in 1999. The book "Message in a Bottle" was released in 1998. It is a story about a woman who finds a love letter in a bottle and becomes determined to track down the author. "A Walk to Remember" Amazon The movie version of "A Walk to Remember," starring Shane West and Mandy Moore, was released in 2002. The book was released in 1999. "A Walk to Remember" is the story of a popular guy who is forced to tutor a plain girl from a poor school. Love and tragedy occur, as they do in all Sparks' books. "The Notebook" Amazon The movie version of "The Notebook," starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, was released in 2004. The book version of "The Notebook" was actually Sparks' first book to be published and was released in 1996. The story is about a man who reads to an old woman he visits from a faded notebook that tells the story of a couple who are separated by World War II, then passionately reunited years later. It's a touching movie and certainly helped launch Ryan Gosling's career as a leading man and heartthrob. "Nights in Rodanthe" Amazon The movie version of "Nights in Rodanthe," starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, was released in September 2008. The book was released in 2002. "Nights in Rodanthe" is about a woman who is tending a friend's inn for the weekend in order to escape problems in her life and meets a man going through his own crisis of conscience, who is the only guest at the inn. These two stars have undeniable chemistry, and this is their third movie together. Here, they show their chops and rise above the material given. "Dear John" Amazon "Dear John" is the story of a college girl who falls in love with a man in the military. The "Dear John" book was published in 2006. The movie was released in February 2010. Despite being directed by the excellent Lasse Hallstrom and starring the hunky Channing Tatum and winsome Amanda Seyfried (who show good chemistry and acting chops), the movie is a simple tear-jerker. "The Last Song" Amazon This book was released in 2009, but the movie rights were sold before it was even written. Also, Sparks wrote "The Last Song" with Miley Cyrus in mind. She stars with Liam Hemsworth, and they became a couple after they met making the film. The movie was released in April 2010. "The Lucky One" Amazon "The Lucky One" is an adaptation of Sparks' 2008 novel of the same name. In "The Lucky One," U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a woman buried in the sand while in Iraq. After finding it, he experiences good luck in many situations. He attributes the luck to the photo. Once home, he decides to track down the woman in the picture. The movie was released in 2012. "Safe Haven" Amazon "Safe Haven" is about a woman on the run from an abusive husband who must decide whether to trust again. It was released in 2013. "The Best of Me" Amazon This 2015 movie stars James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan as former high school sweethearts who reunite at the funeral of a friend in their small town. Naturally, forces are still at work to keep them apart, and secrets linger from the past. The book was published in 2011. "The Longest Ride" Amazon This 2015 movie starred Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson, and Alan Alda, based on the 2014 book. A former rodeo champion seeks a comeback even as love blooms with a college student about to head to the NYC art world. Their story entwines with that of Ira, who remembers his own decades-long romance. "The Choice" Amazon This 2016 movie starred Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer, based on the 2007 book.
