North Carolina Central University first opened its doors in 1910, and today it stands as one of the top-ranked historically black universities in the country. This public university located in Durham, North Carolina, represents an excellent educational value. The university offers bachelor's degrees in over 100 fields, and the school has notable strengths in biology and the health sciences. NCCU's curriculum also places a heavy emphasis on community service.

On the athletic front, the NCCU Eagles will compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) beginning in July, 2010.
