Originally started as a two-year school, OCU (then known as Central Christian College) went through a few name and site changes in its history, before becoming a fully accredited university in the 1990s. Academically, students can choose from a number of majors; popular choices include Nursing, Engineering, Design, Education, Accounting, and Liberal Arts. OCU also grants graduate degrees, with Master's degrees in Business, Accounting, Engineering, and Theology/Ministry. OCU has a collection of active groups students can join, ranging from academic-, to social-, to service-oriented. Many of these clubs perform at the annual "Spring Sing," in which students perform choreographed musical numbers, with awards presented afterwards. Since the school is affiliated with the Church of Christ, daily chapel services are a staple of the OCU experience, In addition, there are several other services throughout the week for students to attend. In athletics, the OCU Eagles compete in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), in Division II. OCU is a member of the Heartland Conference. It is also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). Popular sports include baseball, cross country, basketball, golf, and softball. Oklahoma Christian University has won a number of awards in recent years, including a "Best Western College" by The Princeton Review.
