Fantasy football is a competition where people select imaginary teams from players in a league. The concept was created by Wilfred "Bill" Winkenbach, a financial stakeholder in the Oakland Raiders, in 1962. In fantasy football, participants score points according to the real performance of the players. There is a standard scoring system for fantasy football leagues, although there are other ways, like points-per-reception (PPR), pure scoring leagues, pure yardage leagues, and individual defensive player (IDP).

The IDP method allows players to draft three to seven defensive players during a draft, rather than one team defense. Because there are many ways to draft IDPs, most participants find the fantasy draft to be a lot of fun. IDP leagues can increase their chances of winning against their competition by knowing their league settings, taking their time to draft IDPs, understanding home stat crews, and more.

IDP Leagues Ranked

Individual defensive player (IDP) leagues have become increasingly popular, and we have all the top defensive players that are ranked overall for the fantasy football season. An IDP league consists of basic IDP leagues and deeper ones. Basic leagues have three to four IDPs, and deeper leagues can have two defensive lines (DLs), three to four linebackers (LBs), and two defensive backs (DBs).

The following IDP rankings are based on where players should come off the board during your draft.

The rankings are also based on a common point system, which follows:

  • Solo Tackle: 1 point
  • Sack: 3 points
  • Interception: 5 points
  • Touchdown: 6 points
