Originally a Christian liberal arts college, today the university has dozens of campus centers throughout the country, and it has extensive online degree offerings. The majority of students study part-time, and many take both online and face-to-face classes. Park has been a leader in making education accessible to diverse populations including military personnel, working adults, and international students. For residential students, the university's main campus has an attractive location in Parkville, Missouri, overlooking the Missouri River. Kansas City is just a few minutes away, and the 115-acre Parkville Nature Sanctuary is next door. For student athletes, the Park University Pirates compete in the NAIA American Midwest Conference.
