Born May 24, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Patti LaBelle is one of the greatest and most influential female singers of all-time. Beginning her recording career in 1962 as the lead singer of The Bluebelles, (group name eventually became simply LaBelle), she launched her solo career in 1978 and has been performing for over 50 years.

Her many honors include two Grammy Awards, seven NAACP Image Awards, and induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, BET Walk of Fame, and Apollo Theater Walk of Fame. LaBelle has also received Lifetime Achievement Awards from Soul Train, Essence magazine, Black Girls Rock, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the World Music Awards,. 

LaBelle has recorded one triple platinum, one platinum, and five gold albums.

1974 - "Lady Marmalade" recorded with LaBelle

The trio LaBelle consisting of Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, and Sarah Dash released their classic "Lady Marmalade" on their 1974 Nightbirrds album. It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and RandB charts, and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003.

1986 - "On My Own" with Michael McDonald
