The PGA Tour first introduced its Rookie of the Year Award following the 1990 season. And Robert Gamez was the very first winner that year. Since then, some of golf's biggest names - from Ernie Els and Tiger Woods to Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth - have won the award.

How are the winners selected? The players themselves vote on it. All golfers who played at least 15 official money events on the PGA Tour in the year of the award are eligible to vote on the winner.
