Discussion of Randolph College's Admissions Standards: Randolph College is a small private liberal arts college located in Lynchburg, Virginia. An acceptance letter will be within reach of most hard-working students who have earned solid grades and standardized test scores. Roughly three out of every four applicants will be admitted. In the scattergram above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of successful applicants had high school GPAs of "B" or better, combined SAT scores of about 1000 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 20 or better. You'll notice, however, that a few students with grades and test scores below the norm were also accepted. This is because Randolph College has holistic admissions. Test scores and grades are important, but other factors also carry weight. Whether you use the Randolph application or the Common Application, the admissions officers will be looking for challenging high school courses, an engaging personal statement, interesting extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation. As with most four-year colleges, the admissions folks will also be looking at what classes you have taken, not just your grades. Success in challenging college preparatory classes will improve your chances of being admitted. Advanced Placement, IB, Honors, and dual enrollment classes can all play an important role in the admissions process at Randolph College.
