Discussion of Sac State's Admissions Standards:

Roughly two-thirds of applicants who apply to Sacramento State are accepted. Students applying to this member of the California State University System will need decent grades and test scores to get in. The green and blue dots in the above graph represent accepted students. The majority of successful applicants had "B" averages or higher, SAT scores (RW+M) of 900 or higher, and ACT scores of 17 or higher. A few students with lower grades and scores were accepted. However, note that there are a few spots of red (rejected students) in the middle of the graph. A few students with grades and test scores that seem to be on target for Sacramento State will still get rejected.

Unlike the University of California System, the California State University admission process is not holistic. Except for EOP students, applicants do not need to submit letters of recommendation or an application essay, and extracurricular involvement is not part of the standard application. Thus, the reason why an applicant with adequate scores and grades would be rejected tends to come down to a couple factors such as insufficient college preparatory classes or an incomplete application.
