Founded in 1847, Saint Francis University is a private Catholic (Franciscan) university located in the small town of Loretto, Pennsylvania. From the 600-acre mountaintop campus, Altoona is about half an hour to the east, and Pittsburgh is a little under two hours to the west. The university has a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of about 23. The most popular areas of study are in business, education, and health.
