Sometimes, moving on becomes inevitable. Whether it is a job opportunity, higher education, projects, or simply for good health, people often relocate. Are you moving away? If the thought of leaving your old life behind, including friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues, gives you the shivers, rest assured that you are not alone. It is not easy to say goodbye to your dear ones.

The Many Flavors of Goodbyes

If you like expressive language, you can say goodbye in Shakespearean style by saying, "Fare thee well, my good friend!" Or you can stick to a more contemporary goodbye such as, "Later."

If you are saying farewell to your business colleagues, say it with a note of thanks. You don't want to step on people's toes, lest you need to go back for references.

When you are texting someone a goodbye message, you can also include "take care." It is common courtesy to wish someone a great day or good health when saying goodbye.

If the goodbye is relatively long-term, you can make a goodbye speech. Add some lines that express how much you will miss your friends. If you fear a tearful goodbye, you can add some humorous lines to make light of the matter. Humor takes the sting off the separation but does not devalue your goodbye.

When you are taking leave at a party, make sure to thank your host and say your goodbyes graciously. Express how much you enjoyed yourself. After having congratulated your host for the great party, add a "Have a great evening!" or "Wish you good health!" to your goodbye.

Saying Goodbyes With Quotes

Saying goodbye is not cheesy at all, though the cultural stereotype is that men are uncomfortable with emotional overtures. For men, a friendly pat, a handshake, or thump on the back could also qualify as a goodbye. However, women usually prefer to hug or kiss their friend's goodbye.

If you want to express your goodbyes with some sweet words, say goodbye with quotes. You can borrow some tender words that touch hearts. Use these "saying goodbye" quotes in your text messages, cards, and presents. Your words will reverberate in the hearts of your loved ones, and remind them of you.
