Joyous Thanks for Successful Childbirth: "Parmaesar Ditaa Bannaa"

This hymn is from the scripture of the Guru Granth Sahib and is a composition by Guru Arjun Dev, the fifth spiritual master of the Sikhs. "Parmaesar Ditaa Bannaa" is a prayer of celebration. This hymn may be sung or recited on behalf of a mother for successful childbirth, or for giving joyous thanks to the merciful creator upon the safe delivery of her child. The hymn may be performed on the occasion of a newborn’s presentation to the Guru Granth Sahib as a part of the Sikh baby naming ceremony.

This hymn, "Poota Mata Kee Asees," is from the scripture of the Guru Granth Sahib. The fifth spiritual master of the Sikhs, Guru Arjun Dev composed this prayer which expresses a mother's hope for her child's well being. The hymn is sung on behalf of a child of any age as a mother's birthday blessing and plea that love for the Divine shall ever blossom in her child's being. More »

Arjun Dev the fifth guru composed "Jamia Poot Bhagat Govind Ka" a hymn from the scripture of the Guru Granth Sahib. This hymn may be sung as a blessing in honor of a child's conception and as a prayer of joyous celebration at the time of birth or on any birthday occasion. More »

Why Worry: "Kaahae Rae Man Chitveh Udam"

The hymn, "Kaahae Rae Man", composed by Fifth Guru Arjun Dev, is a selection from Guru Granth Sahib. It is also one the evening prayers of Nitnem. If, like most parents, you worry about your children, you may find this hymn comforting.  It serves as a reminder that everything is managed by the supreme divine power of the Creator who looks after even the young of flamingos who fly away.

The hymn Sagalae Rog Bidaarae is an affirmation of healing. Guru Ajrun Dev wrote the shabad affirming all diseases have been eradicated upon the recovery of his young son from dreaded small pox. The hymn may be recited or sung as support for a child during a time of crisis in the event of fever, or illness. More »
