Twenty-five years after Dreamgirls captured the hearts of audiences on Broadway, the film adaptation was released starring and featuring performances by Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Anika Noni Rose and Eddie Murphy. The film version was not only a box-office success, but it also won two Academy Awards -- for Best Sound Mixing and, more famously, for Jennifer Hudson as Best Supporting Actress.

The film version of Dreamgirls includes four brand new songs by original Dreamgirls stage composer Henry Krieger as well as the musical numbers from the hit Broadway play. The 2-disc Deluxe Version of the soundtrack also includes a 36-page booklet with the lyrics along with photos from the film.

The single-disc version of the Dreamgirls soundtrack spent two weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album. One of the new songs, "Love You I Do," won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture or Television. The soundtrack was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
