In the many years that the Ford Mustang has been on the road, it has touched the lives of countless owners and enthusiasts. As such, several songs have been written about the Mustang. Although some people might think of Mustang music as the purr of their exhaust as they make their way down the highway, others take a different approach. Wilson Pickett was known for his rock & rock and he was known for his R&B. What most Mustang enthusiasts remember Pickett for is his catchy song "Mustang Sally" which was originally written by Mack Rice in 1965. The song became popular in 1966 when Pickett covered the tune. The song has since been covered by Buddy Guy, Sam & Dave, Los Lobos, and Bruce Springsteen, just to name a few.

Many say Dick Dale invented sixties surf rock. His band, Dick Dale & His Del-Tones, performed the song "Wild, Wild, Mustang", which was featured on their fourth studio album "Mr. Eliminator", along with other performance inspired songs such as "Nitro Fuel" and "Hot Rod Alley." Oh, and we can't forget about the "Blond in the 406."

"Black Sunshine" was featured on the album "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1" by White Zombie. The song is about a 400hp Mustang named "Black Sunshine". Iggy Pop recorded the intro and outro vocals on the song.

Back in 1968, when they were still known as Tyrannosaurus Rex, T-Rex performed "Mustang Ford" on their debut album "My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows." The album also included another car-themed song "Hot Rod Mama".

Chuck Berry, Mr. Johnny B. Goode, sings about a 1966 Cherry Red Mustang with 385 hp in "My Ford Mustang" featured on his album "More Rock 'n' Roll Rarities"."I got a nineteen sixty-six cherry red Mustang Ford. It got a three hundred and eighty-five horsepower overload!"

Move out Little Mustang (The Fantastic Baggys, A.K.A. Rally-Packs)

This song was actually recorded by Jan & Dean's backup band, The Fantastic Baggys, although they were credited as the Rally-Packs. The song is featured on "Little Old Lady From Pasadena/Filet Of Soul". "Move Out, move Out, go little Mustang!"

He achieved worldwide popularity with his single "Ice Ice Baby", but this song is all about his 5.0L Fox Body Ford Mustang. The song is a sampling of Steve Miller's "Fly Like and Eagle". "Turn up the volume, crank up the bass!"

Their 1997 Album "Surfin' Rampage" features the song titled "Shelby GT356". Too bad the song isn't called Shelby GT350. I love that car.
