Southern Connecticut State University (often called just "Southern") is located in New Haven, just a few minutes from Yale University and Albertus Magnus College. The 171-acre campus sits between Boston and New York City with easy access to both cities by road or rail. Undergraduates can choose from 69 degree programs, and the university also offers 45 graduate programs. At the baccalaureate level, psychology and business are the most popular majors. Academics are supported by a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio. With 65 clubs and organizations, Southern provides students with many opportunities for getting involved with campus life. On the athletic front, the Southern Owls compete in the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference. The university fields eight men's and eleven women's intercollegiate sports.
