Discussion of St. Olaf College's Admissions Standards:

St. Olaf College is a selective private college that accepts less than half of all applicants, and you'll need strong standardized test scores and grades to be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of students who got into St. Olaf had grades up in the "A" range, SAT scores (RW+M) above 1200, and ACT composite scores above 25.

You will also notice that some students got in with test scores and grades below the norm, and a few students were waitlisted who seemed to be on target for admissions. This is because St. Olaf, like most selective liberal arts colleges, has holistic admissions and accepts the Common Application. The numbers are just one part of an application. To get in, you will also need a winning essay, strong letters of recommendation, and interesting extracurricular activities. Most important of all is a challenging high school curriculum, and success in AP, IB, Honors, or dual enrollment classes can significantly strengthen your application. True strengths in some of these areas can help make up for grades and test scores that are a little below the norm, and deficiencies can red flag an application even when the test scores and grades are adequate.
