Discussion of Stetson's Admissions Standards:

Over a third of all applicants to Stetson University will not be admitted, and successful applicants tend to have solid SAT or ACT scores and a strong academic record. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. The data show that most students who got in had high school averages of "B" or higher, combined SAT scores of about 1000 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 20 or better. A significant number of applicants had GPAs up in the "A" range. If your test scores are below the ideal range, don't worry -- Stetson allows you to apply without submitting them.

In the middle of the graph you'll see a few red dots (rejected students) -- some students with grades and test scores that were on target for Stetson were not accepted. On the flip side, some students with grades and test scores below the norm were admitted. This is because the Stetson admissions folks make their decisions based on more than numerical data. They want to see that you have taken rigorous high school courses that have prepared you for college-level work in core subject areas. Also, Stetson uses the Common Application and has holistic admissions. The school will be looking for a well crafted admissions essay, meaningful involvement in extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation.

Stetson University has a rolling admissions policy, and the school encourages students to apply early. You will most likely increase your chances of admission if you submit all of your application materials by the priority deadline for your preferred academic program. To be considered for Stetson University scholarships, you'll want to have your application completed by February 15th.
