A teacher's attitude towards their students and teaching in general is very important for student success. This is especially true at the beginning of the school year. Teacher attitude ranges from how they will approach their students each day to how they think about education in general.

In terms of the attitude that teachers should carry with them each day, it is important that they strike a balance between enthusiasm for their subject and the need to keep good discipline in the classroom.

It's so much easier to get easier than to get tougher as the year goes on. While a teacher should never be mean, it is important to start each year with a no-nonsense attitude. Firmness and clearly established expectations provide students with what you expect and allow them to settle in and understand how to be successful academically and behaviorally. At the same time, teachers need to have and build interest in the topics that they are teaching.
