RFD Television Broadcast Listing

Rural Free Delivery television shows focus on rodeo, bull riding and more.

RFD is an acronym for Rural Free Delivery, and the channel, which is available on cable or via satellite, is focused on rural issues, as the name suggests. However, it’s also one of the few television channels where rodeo fans can find coverage of their favorite sport.

RFD Listings

You can find the RFD TV schedule online. In addition to agricultural, rural lifestyle and entertainment programming, the channel includes a variety of equine-focused shows.

You do have to pay for RFD programming, either through your cable or satellite service -- if they include the channel -- or through an online provider. But, rodeo is under-represented on television. Supporting the businesses and individuals who sponsor rodeo and great rodeo programming can go a long way toward increasing interest and accessibility to the sport.

Depending on where you live as well as your television service provider, RFD offers more than 40 shows ranging from "U.S. Farm Report" to "Voices of Agriculture" and "Western Sports." RFD-TV also has a helpful location tool on its website where you can enter your zip code to find out if it’s available in your area.

Example Programming

One provider, Country Club, offers RFD programming online. The programs are broken into catetories, such as: agriculture, which features such shows as "Ag Day," "Farm Week" and "This Week in Louisiana Agriculture;" equine, which includes such shows as "Best of America on Horseback;" music/entertainment, featuring programming like "Nashville on the Road" and "Tru Country;" and western sports, which includes such shows as "Cinch NHSRA Rodeo."

With this online service, you can choose from several months of shows to view. Country Club's RFD programming also offers featured shows like "Successful Farming" and popular shows such as "The American Rancher." Of course, if you watch RFD through your local cable or satellite service, programs will vary depending on where you live.

Special Interest

RFD is definitely the right programming option if you're interested in rodeo. For example, "Little Britches Rodeo," is a talk show that covers a variety of rodeo-related topics. You can also view high school rodeo contests from throughout the country on "Cinch NHSRA Rodeo" or even rodeo contests featuring only female riders on "Women's Pro Rodeo."

Some of the RFD's other shows include:

  • AARP LIVE
  • Ag Day
  • Ag PhD
  • American Century Investments
  • American Farmer
  • Bluegrass and Backroads
  • California Bountiful
  • Cattlemen To Cattlemen
  • Chris Cox Horsemanship
  • Country's Family Reunion

In addition to programs, RFD's website offers news stories linked to its programming, including news of recent and upcoming rodeo events, as well as winners and top performers; articles about nutrition and health care; and tips on getting top dollar for your cattle in the "competitive meat market."

So, if you're interested in rural news, farming tips, cattle raising or rodeo, RFD might just be the right programming service for you.
