Prayer is an essential ingredient to any Christian worship experience and a fitting way to open your wedding service. In a Christian wedding ceremony, the opening prayer, also called the wedding invocation, typically includes thanksgiving and a call that asks for, or invokes, God to be present and bless the service that is about to begin and the participants in that service. The invocation prayer is a very important part of any Christian matrimonial wedding ceremony and and is often adapted for the specific circumstances of a particular couple, along with other prayers typically used in a wedding.

Here are samples of opening wedding invocation prayers. You may use them just as they are, or you may wish to modify them with the help of a minister or priest to create your own custom prayer for your  your wedding ceremony.
