The Weeknd won two honors at the 2016 Grammy Awards on February 15, 2016 at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California: Best R&B Performance for "Earned It" from Fifty Shades of Grey, and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Beauty Behind The Madness. He received five additional nominations: Record Of The Year ("Can't Feel My Face"), Album Of The Year (Beauty Behind The Madness), Best Pop Solo Performance ("Can't Feel My Face"), Best R&B Song and Best Song Written For Visual Media ("Earned It" from Fifty Shades of Grey).

"Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars won Record of the Year, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran won Song of the Year, and 1989 bTaylor Swift was named Album of the Year. "Really Love" by D'Angelo and the Vanguard was voted Best R&B Song, and "Glory" by John Legend and Common from Selma was chosen Best Song Written For Visual Media.
