Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on November 12, 2017 Thiel College Description: Thiel College is a private liberal arts and professional studies college located in Greenville, Pennsylvania. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Thiel (pronounced "teel") sits on a picturesque 135-acre campus in rural western Pennsylvania, less than two hours from both Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Thiel’s small size makes it ideal for personalized attention; the college has a student faculty ratio of 14 to 1, and almost 70% of classes have fewer than 20 students. Academically, Thiel offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs as well as cooperative programs with several Cleveland and Pittsburgh colleges in areas including art, engineering, cytotechnology and mortuary science. Other popular programs offered at the college include biology, business and elementary education. Outside of the classroom, students are involved in a variety of co-curricular activities, including 35 clubs and organizations and an active Greek life. There are a number of musical groups on campus, including a marching band, concert band, and choir. The Thiel Tomcats compete in the NCAA Division III Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Popular sports include Football, Wrestling, Track and Field, and Soccer.
