Every horseplayer needs to know who is running and how they finished. Here are the best sources for up to date entry and race result data for North American Thoroughbred horse racing. It is worth noting that Equibase is North American racing's official statistician.  They collect and distribute the raw past performance and results data to most other service providers (such as Daily Racing Form) who may recompile that data and present it in slightly different formats.

Equibase Entries
Entries by track and date for North America. Changes and scratches available here. Equibase also immediately incorporates scratches on their entry pages, so if you always look here first you won't accidentally pick a non-runner.

Equibase Race Results

Full charts are available here for the past week in PDF format.  Summary results are useful for those only interested in the wagering payouts, the "final score".  Charts are used if you need to see individual horse performances in a specific race.

Thoroughbred Stakes Race Schedule
Stakes races at North American tracks with a purse of $75,000 or more. Updated weekly.  Generally this list gets lengthy in the summer months when more tracks are running richer races, and tails off in the winter when only warmer weather circuits (with the exception of Aqueduct's inner track meet) offer purses that high.

Daily Racing Form Watches
Register to get emails when horses or trainers you specify work out or are entered to race. You can also watch for specific race types or carryover amounts in Pick 6 and other wagers. Some handicappers use a trainer's workout patterns to see if a horse is expected to win next time.

Equibase Virtual Stable
Register to get emails when horses you specify work out or are entered in a race.  This is often used by handicappers who saw a horse put in a losing effort but feel the horse is due for a win next time out, and don't want to miss the opportunity to bet that horse.

BRISnet
Information service with free entries, results, real time toteboard, and news. Also sell selections and many types of data files for handicapping or past performance software.  Formerly an independent company, it is now part of the Churchill Downs family of companies and is heavily integrated with Churchill's "TwinSpires" account wagering system.
