Tiger Woods' wedding to Elin Nordegren took place on Oct. 5, 2004. The bride wore a simple, elegant, sleeveless white gown and the groom wore a beige suit. Woods was 28 years old and Nordegren 24. They exchanged vows and were pronounced husband-and-wife at approximately 5:40 p.m. local time.

Where the Tiger-Elin Wedding Happened and How Much It Cost

Local time where? Woods and Nordegren were married in the Caribbean island nation of Barbados.

The Sandy Lane Resort was the host facility for the festivities.

The wedding ceremony took place inside a pagoda on the resort grounds, festooned with a reported 500 red roses that Tiger had flown in.

And Tiger and Elin had the resort all to themselves: Woods booked the entire facility - its luxury hotel, its beachfront resort area, its two golf courses and their clubhouses - for a week.

How much did the wedding cost? According to news reports at the time, the estimates were in the $1.5 million range.

High Security at the Woods-Nordegren Wedding

No official photos of the wedding exist; the couple never released any wedding pictures. And paparazzi pics were thwarted by intensive security measures. Those included Woods reportedly booking every charter helicopter available in Barbados to prevent their use by photographers, and the use of plywood and positioning of tall plants and trees to block prying eyes.

The Guest List and Entertainment

Did anyone famous attend Tiger Woods' wedding? Approximately 120 guests were in attendance, with basketball stars Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley among them.

There were reports at the time, repeated over the years, that Oprah Winfrey was there, but those reports are erroneous.

Winfrey later stated she was not present and was not acquainted with Woods at the time the wedding took place.

One important person who was definitely not there was Jesper Parnevik. The Swedish golfer is the person who introduced Woods and Nordegren during the 2001 British Open, when Elin was working as the Parnevik's nanny. Parnevik cited "the brouhaha around" the wedding in deciding to play in a PGA Tour event instead.

As for the wedding entertainment: The rock band Hootie and the Blowfish performed.

Alas, the Woods-Nordegren marriage didn't last. The couple divorced in 2010. They did have two children together — a daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, and a son, Charlie Axel Woods.
