A 15-year veteran of Information Technology, Tim Pierce spends his time designing, implementing and improving IT systems in the enterprise.
Tim Pierce currently works as an Enterprise Architect for a major telecommunications corporation, focused primarily on the design and implementation of IT systems within the enterprise. Tim has worked in a similar capacity for several companies over the last 15 years, including Verizon, Raytheon, and Qwest Communications, to name a few.
Along the way, Tim has earned numerous certifications in areas such as Cisco routing/switching/security, Microsoft systems administration, Check Point firewall systems administration, ITIL v.3, and TOGAF, among others. As a trainer, he's taught a range of training classes on various technologies and certifications. As a manager, he's implemented career certification roadmaps for his staff, and developed training plans and resources to help his staff achieve their goals. And as a writer on the topic of technical certifications, Tim combines his knowledge of technical certification training and testing with his passion for helping people achieve their career goals.
I've worked in a number of roles in IT over the years, including systems administration, systems engineering, training, IT product development, and architecture. I've worked for start-ups and Fortune 100 corporations, and I've likewise worked with virtually every kind of technical professional in the industry, from software designers to engineering management to fellow systems administrators and architects.
From my experience, I've learned a lot about what it takes to make yourself stand out from the competition, and what employers are looking for. I believe in continuous improvement and I'm a lifelong learner, so I love to write about things that help others do the same. There is a tremendous amount of information about achieving various certifications out there – some good, some not so good – and my job is to sort through all of it, find the best information, add a little insight, and bring it all together.
