Experience

Tom Murse is a former writer for ThoughtCo, who covered politics and the economy during a one-year period. Tom is a former political reporter, who covered numerous congressional and senatorial races, presidential campaigns and national political conventions over the course of more than 20 years in the newspaper business. He now works as the Managing Editor for a daily newspaper in Pennsylvania. He also leads a team of three investigative reporters as the editor of a weekly watchdog publication, The Caucus, covering the state government and politics out of the Capitol.

Tom has won several statewide and national journalism awards for investigative, spot news and enterprise reporting. He was among a team of reporters who shared the 2006 Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers from The Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, beating out "The New York Times" and "The Cleveland Plain Dealer." In 2018, "The Caucus" was named a finalist for the best new print publication by the International News Media Association.
