Tom has won several statewide and national journalism awards for investigative, spot news and enterprise reporting. He was among a team of reporters who shared the 2006 Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers from The Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, beating out "The New York Times" and "The Cleveland Plain Dealer." In 2018, "The Caucus" was named a finalist for the best new print publication by the International News Media Association.
