Tom is a former politics reporter who now works as an editor for a daily newspaper in Pennsylvania. He also leads a team of three investigative reporters as the editor of a weekly watchdog publication, The Caucus, covering the state government and politics out of the Capitol. Tom has covered numerous congressional and senatorial races, presidential campaigns and national political conventions over the course of more than 20 years in the newspaper business. He interviewed White House candidates one-on-one, and appeared on statewide television to discuss public policy.
He previously worked at a newspaper bureau in Washington, D.C., where he covered several members of Capitol Hill for local newspapers across the country. He also worked as a reporter in out of Pennsylvania's statehouse, where he wrote about government and politics.
He has won several statewide and national journalism awards for investigative, spot news and enterprise reporting. He was among a team of reporters who shared the 2006 Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers from The Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, beating out The New York Times and The Plain Dealer of Cleveland.
