Girl groups have been a key part of the pop music landscape since the early 60's. These are the 10 top songs by the most recent wave of girl groups.

The group Little Mix was formed in 2011 when X Factor UK judges put together a girl band from soloists who would have otherwise been eliminated from the competition. Little Mix went on to become the first group to win the competition. They have earned seven top 10 pop hit singles at home in the UK and "Black Magic" is their highest charting hit in the US climbing into the top 25 at mainstream pop radio.

Fifth Harmony was formed in the 2012 second season of the short-lived . The group members initially auditioned as solo singers, and to save them from elimination, the judges formed a band. Fifth Harmony went on to finish third in the competition. However, they have gained the most commercial success of any of the season's competitors. Their debut album Reflection was a top 5 hit and "Worth It" is their biggest single having broken into the top 5 at mainstream pop radio and earning a platinum certification for sales.

Girls Generation are a South Korean group who had their debut in 2007. They have topped the Korean album chart with four consecutive studio releases and the 2015 album Lion Heart broke into the top 10 of the US Heatseekers chart. "Party" is a single from the album. It reached #1 in South Korea and the top 10 in Japan.

The three Haim sisters first began performing together as a group in 2007. They initially did not take the idea of performing as a group seriously, but when Danielle Haim became a successful touring guitarist, they decided to form an official band with drummer Dash Hutton. With their first single "Forever," the group was a critical success. "The Wire" broke them into the top 25 at rock radio in the US and the top 20 of the pop singles chart in the US. The debut album Days Are Gone hit the top 10 in the US and HAIM earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist.

British girl group The Saturdays was formed in 2007. Their debut single "If This Is Love" landed inside the pop top 10 and became the first of a dozen top 10 hits in the band's first five years. "Disco Love" is a single from the album Living For the Weekend released in October 2013. It peaked at #5 on the UK pop singles chart.

2NE1 are a South Korean girl group that came together in 2009. Their debut album To Anyone was a #1 hit in Korea. The 2014 album Crush broke into the US album chart at #61. "Come Back Home" was the first single from the album and reached #2 on the K-Pop Hot 100.

Babymetal are a Japanese trio. The concept behind their band is a blend of heavy metal and idol music. All three members are teenagers. The group's self-titled debut album was released in February 2014 and reached #12 on the hard rock album chart in the US. The music video for "Gimme Chocolate!!" brought the band international acclaim and reached #5 on Billboard's World Digital Songs chart.

Stooshe is a British trio who splashed into the UK pop scene in 2012 with the top 5 pop hit "Love Me" and a place on the long list for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll. The follow up "Black Heart" peaked at #3. "Lock Down," the first single from Stooshe's second album, is due for a January 2016 release.

The Staves are an all-female folk rock trio from the UK. Their second album If I Was appeared in March 2015. It was produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and reached the top 15 on the UK album chart. "Steady" is a track from the album. The Staves performed live at the 2015 Glastonbury Festival.

Warpaint are an all-female indie rock band first formed in 2004 in Los Angeles. The band's first EP Exquisite Corpse was mixed and mastered by Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. Warpaint were named to the long list of the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. The band's self-titled second album was released in January 2014 and it peaked at #43 on the US album chart. It broke into the top 10 in the UK. "Keep It Healthy" is a track from the album.
