5. Superman: Escape from Krypton

Located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California Superman: Escape From Krypton was originally called Superman: The Escape when it opened in 1997. In 2011 season it was rebuilt into Superman: Escape from Krypton.

There are a few changes they made but the biggest one is the position of the riders. Instead of facing forward to the look at the sky they now ride backwards looking at the ground as they fly on the vertical track. Roller coaster lovers will like this ride since Escape from Krypton has the third-tallest structure at 415 feet (126 m), the fifth-fastest speed and the third-longest drop in the world.

The ride takes you up the 41-story tower at a 90-degree angle before dropping you at speeds up to 100 mph in seven seconds! While you may never be able to fly like Superman the track gives you a feeling of weightlessness for 6.5 seconds!

1. Superman The Ride at Six Flags New England

Superman: The Ride. Six Flags

First, it was known as Superman: Ride of Steel (2000–2009) then Bizarro (2009–2015). Now it's just Superman: The Ride. This coaster has been voted the number one steel roller coaster in the world in Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards five times since 2003. This is the big one.

The ride starts off by greeting you with the classic Superman Theme by John Williams. After a sickening drop of 221 feet, the coaster races through a fogged tunnel before throwing you around several hairpin turns, winding lanes and hills before dropping you in another underground tunnel.

This ride smokes the competition but it's getting even better with the VR goggles coming soon.
