The school is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, and was established as the Lakewood Park Bible School. After relocating a few times, the college settled in Ellendale in the 1970s. Ellendale is in the southern part of the state, about 60 miles south of Jamestown, and 100 miles southeast of Bismarck.
