University of Central Florida Photo Tour

The University of Central Florida is a four-year, public university that has experienced rapid growth in the last decade. UCF now controls 12 satellite campuses in addition to its 1,415-acre main campus in Orlando, Florida. The university has a student/faculty ratio of 32 to 1, and almost 60,000 students study at one of UCF's 12 colleges. Currently, UCF's most popular academic disciplines are Business Management and Administration, Health Professions, and Psychology.

UCF College of Sciences

UCF's largest college is the College of Sciences. The college has over 13,000 students who study anthropology, biology, chemistry, communication, mathematics, physics, political science, psychology, sociology, and statistics. Measured by student enrollment, the Psychology Department is the largest in the Western Hemisphere. The college is also responsible for the care of UCF's 82-acre arboretum.

Colbourn Hall houses a large part of UCF's College of Arts and Humanities. In addition to the departments of English, History, and Writing and Rhetoric, Colbourn Hall includes programs for Women's Studies, African American Studies, Judaic Studies, and Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. It also houses the University Writing Center.

UCF College of Optics and Photonics

UCF's College of Optics and Photonics, or CREOL, is a graduate college for those interested in studying optical science and engineering. CREOL supports many research groups with a host of classrooms and laboratories. It also has high-tech facilities including a Nanophotonics Systems Fabrication Facility, a Woollam M2000 Mapping Spectroscopic Ellipsometer, and a Leica EBPG5000+ electron beam lithography system.

UCF Nicholson School of Communication

The Nicholson School of Communication (NSC) offers graduate and undergraduate programs such as interpersonal communication, mass communication, and corporate communication. NSC also offers many hands-on, student-run communications projects, including the WNSC internet radio channel, the UCF Centric Magazine, and a weekly television news show called Knightly News.

College of Health and Public Affairs

UCF's College of Health and Public Affairs is made up of two buildings and seven departments. Some of the programs include Health Management and Informatics, Medical Laboratory Science, and the departments of Health Professions and Communication Sciences and Disorders. The college also has the School of Public Administration which was highly ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

Students' physical and mental health needs are addressed at the UCF Health Center. In addition to vaccinations, laboratory testing, and the UCF Pharmacy, the campus Health Center has a host of student services such as massage therapy, student health workshops, and a clinical dietitian. The Health Center also offers a 24-hour counseling center hotline.

UCF College of Engineering and Computer Science

The College of Engineering and Computer Science has several buildings on campus, and programs ranging from environmental engineering to aerospace engineering. It also supports a host of research centers, like the Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering (IASE), the Center for Advanced Transportation Systems Simulation (CATSS), and the Consortium for Applied Acoustoelectronic Technology (CAAT).

The UCF College of Business Administration has been helping students get their bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees since 1968. The college offers a host of student resources and centers such as the Center for Economic Education, Center for Entrepreneurship, and Institute for Economic Competitiveness. AACSB International certifies all of the college's programs, and Business Management and Administration is the number one undergraduate degree conferred by UCF.

The modern UCF Academy for Teaching, Learning and Leadership is a part of the university's College of Education. The college boasts first-class teacher education programs and state-of-the-art facilities. The college offers programs such as Sport and Exercise Science, Early Childhood Development and Education, and Technical Education and Industry Training.

UCF Howard Phillips Hall

Howard Phillips Hall is home to many of UCF's sciences and student resource centers. It houses programs for Political Science, Sociology, First-Year Experience, and more. It is also the place to go for anyone interested in anthropology field research. Programs include human osteology and pathology studies in Lithuania, archaeological excavations and bioarchaeology in Egypt, and archaeological excavations in the Bahamas.

Most of the administrative work on campus is done in Millican Hall. That is where you can find the office of the President, the University Compliance and Ethics Office, Academic Affairs, Veteran Services, Classroom Reservations, Information Technologies and Resources, and much more.

UCF Library

The UCF Library contains more than 2 million volumes and has access to extensive online databases, including over 180 U.S. government databases. With 350 computer workstations and 70 public-use laptops available, it's a popular place to study. During the average mid-semester week, the library sees more than 40,000 users.

Knights Plaza is a popular shopping and dining area for UCF students. It has a Subway, the Knight Aid Pharmacy, Kyoto Sushi and Grill, and other restaurants and student hot spots. The area also features the Towers at Knights Plaza, an apartment-style housing option. The Towers are a popular choice and include single rooms and a kitchen.

Volusia Hall is a suite-style residence hall and another popular housing option, especially for first-year students. Suites house four to five students and have a bathroom, living room, and two or three bedrooms. Volusia Hall is part of the Apollo Community, a group of four centrally-located residence halls.

The Student Union at UCF

The Student Union is the center for Student Leadership Development, Campus Faiths and Ministries, and the Office of Student Involvement. That means it's the place to go if you're looking to join one of UCF's 350 student clubs and organizations like Skimboarding Club, Nerd Club, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club. The Student Union is also the place to learn about the 47 Greek letter organizations and the intramural athletics on campus.

Solar Energy at UCF

UCF's Solar Energy Department of the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) helps keep the campus cool and energy-efficient. The FSEC won the U.S. Department of Energy's Million Solar Roofs Best Progress Award for the Atlanta Region in 2002. It provides resources for students, like the FSEC Research Library Collection, and helps keep the buildings on campus comfortable by controlling air temperature with limited solar exposure and roofs designed to reflect solar energy. UCF Theatre

Any UCF students looking to get their bachelor's degrees in Stage Management, Acting, or Musical Theatre will probably find themselves spending a lot of time at the campus Theatre. The Theatre has put on productions such as The Pirates of Penzance, West Side Story, and Rent. UCF Arena

UCF is home to the largest sports and live entertainment facility in East Orlando. The UCF Arena seats over 10,000 and serves as home base for the university's intercollegiate athletics. UCF competes in the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference with sports that including men's and women's soccer, golf, and tennis. The Arena also hosts special events, including the World Jump Rope Championships, the Harlem Globetrotters 2013 "You Write the Rules" World Tour, and Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival.

Green Spaces at UCF
