UMBC Description:

UMBC, the University of Maryland Baltimore County, is a comprehensive public university located just 15 minutes from Baltimore's Inner Harbor and 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. The college offers undergraduates 42 majors and 41 minors. UMBC has been recognized for the quality of its teaching, and in 2010 it was ranked as the #1 "up-and-coming" national university by U.S. News & World Report.

For its strengths in the liberal arts and sciences, UMBC was awarded a chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. In athletics, the UMBC Retrievers compete in the NCAA Division I America East Conference.
