Discussion of UNC Asheville's Admissions Standards:

The University of North Carolina at Asheville is a selective public liberal arts college. About one in four applicants will not get in, and admitted students tend to have grades and standardized test scores that are at least a little above average. In the graph above, green and blue represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of accepted students had a GPA of "B+" or higher, an SAT score (RW+M) above 1100, and an ACT composite score of 23 or higher. Chances of admission improve if those numbers are above this lower range.

Note also that a number of students were accepted with test scores and grades a bit below the norm. UNC Asheville has holistic admissions and accepts the Common Application. The admissions officers evaluate students based on more than numerical data. Students who show some kind of impressive talent or have a compelling story to tell will often get a close look even if their grades and test scores are a little below the norm. A winning essay, strong letters of recommendation, and interesting extracurricular activities can mean the difference between an acceptance and a rejection.
