Discussion of UNCSA's Admissions Standards:

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts is a highly selective public art school, and fewer than half of all applicants get in. In the graph above, green and blue represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of accepted students had a GPA of "B" or higher, an SAT score (RW+M) above 1000, and an ACT composite score of 21 or higher.

Note, however, that some of the applicants with the highest grades and test scores did not get in. This is because the school's admissions process gives a lot of weight to the non-numerical pieces of an application. Auditions, portfolios, and resumes of your experiences can be extremely important components of your application. The application requirements are different for dance, design, drama, filmmaking, and music, so be sure to read the UNCSA application carefully for the detailed guidelines. Unlike other schools in the UNC system, your experiences and talent are likely to be more important than your grades and test scores (although the latter still matter).
