Discussion of Arkansas's Admissions Standards:

Students hoping to become Arkansas Razorbacks will need grades and test scores that are average or above average. Over one in three applicants will not be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. The majority of successful applicants had high school grades in the "A" or "B" range, ACT composite scores of 20 or higher, and combined SAT scores of 1000 or better (RW+M). The higher those grades and test scores, the better your chances are of receiving an acceptance letter from Arkansas. You'll notice that nearly everyone who had an ACT composite score over 24 got in.

However, there are a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. Some students with grades and test scores that seemed to be on target for the University of Arkansas did not win admission. On the flip side, note that some students were accepted with test scores and grades a little bit below the norm. This is because the University of Arkansas' admissions process is not entirely numerical. Grades and test scores carry the most weight, but the University of Arkansas application also gives students a place to list extracurricular activities, and applicants can write up to 350 words to provide additional information they'd like to share with the admissions committee. The university will also be evaluating the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grade point average. AP, IB and Honors courses will impress far more than introductory and remedial classes.
