Discussion of UNCG's Admissions Standards:

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro isn't nearly as selective as the UNC main campus in Chapel Hill, but applicants will still need solid grades and standardized test scores to be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green data points represent students who received acceptance letters. Nearly all successful applicants had SAT scores (RW+M) of 950 or higher, an ACT composite of 18 or higher, and a high school average of a "B-" or better. You'll notice a bit of red (rejected students) overlapping with the green and blue on the left and lower sections of the graph. This suggest that your chances of admission will improve significantly if your grades and SAT/ACT scores are above these lower ranges. A significant percentage of accepted applicants had grades up in the "A" range.

Grades and standardized test scores are the most important part of your UNCG application. The application does not have a required application essay, nor does the application request information about extracurricular activities (although it does have a space to list your employment history). Some programs at the university, however, have extra requirements, and students do need to write a short essay to be considered for scholarships. Music applicants need to audition, and some programs such as nursing and interior architecture have a more selective admissions process than the university as a whole.
