University of Mississippi Description:

The University of Mississippi at Oxford, better known as "Ole Miss," is the second largest university in the state of Mississippi (Mississippi State University is the largest). Ole Miss was also the first publicly funded university in the state to be awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the prestigious undergraduate honor society. The campus houses 30 different research centers, and high achieving students should check out the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College where they can be challenged by smaller classes and dedicated faculty. In athletics, the Ole Miss Rebels compete in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference. Popular sports include football, basketball, soccer, tennis, track and field, and golf. The university made my list of the top Mississippi colleges.
