University of Montevallo Admissions Overview:

As it has an acceptance rate of 70%, the University of Montevallo is a somewhat selective school. Students will generally need a solid application and standardized test scores. When the University of Montevallo first opened its doors in 1896, its mission was to train women to be self-sufficient. Today it is a small co-ed university with a liberal arts emphasis. Montevallo prides itself on quality teaching and the high level of interaction between students and faculty. As a public university, Montevallo represents an amazing value for the student who wants to attend an intimate and attractive liberal arts college without the price tag of small private colleges. Located about 25 miles south of Birmingham, Alabama, the campus center is a National Historic District. On the athletics front, the school competes in the NCAA Division II, within the Peach Belt Conference. Popular sports include Track and Field, Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball.
