The University of Oregon in Eugene is the flagship campus of Oregon's university system. The university is a member of the Association of American Universities because of its strengths in both research and education. In academics, the University of Oregon is a little less pre-professional than their rival Oregon State University, but the business and accounting majors are still quite popular.

The creative writing program is one of the best in the country. In athletics, the University of Oregon Ducks compete in the NCAA Division I Pacific 12 Conference.
