Milwaukee is 30 miles to the north and Chicago is 60 miles to the south. The 700-acre campus with its prairies and woodlands acts as a natural laboratory for some of the university's environmental classes. Lake Michigan is just a mile away. The university is made up of two academic units: the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business and Technology. Business administration and criminal justice are the most popular majors. The university has a 19 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and 78% of classes have fewer than 30 students. In athletics, the UW-Parkside Rangers compete in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference; the university is the only NCAA Division II member in Wisconsin.
